How Confident Are You???
In sales, in professional speaking, heck…in most of life confidence is an asset. We all pay more attention to, have respect for, and admire confident people. When someone is confident, it’s contagious and the reverse is true too…if you show a lack of confidence people can feel that.
One of the things my clients tell me they like best about working with me, is that they have more confidence when selling. I’d love to be able to say it’s because I have a secret sauce that gives them a shot of confidence, but it’s far more basic than that. When I coach and train salespeople, the reason they have more confidence is because they understand their sales process. They know how to guide a prospect through the buying journey. They know what to say and when to stop talking. That type of confidence can’t be faked.
If you’re in sales, and you come across as unconfident, your prospects won’t buy…because they see your lack of confidence as a lack of belief in what you’re offering them. And if you don’t believe in what you’re selling, why would they buy from you? (Answer = they wouldn’t)
Want more confidence when selling? STUDY sales. Read books. Go to seminars and workshops. Watch videos. Invest in training and/or coaching (It doesn’t have to be my training programs of my coaching…just work with someone who has been proven to get results).
You’ve probably heard the expression, “Fake it ‘til you make it.” Yes, you can try to fake it regarding confidence, but the thing about the human brain is that it picks up subconscious clues. And no one wants to do business with a fake, or phony person.
Invest in yourself. Study. Engage a coach or trainer if you need to. But do SOMETHING if you’re not currently confident in your ability to find prospects and close business. Sales is a great career because every day you get to wake up, look yourself in the mirror, and give yourself a raise. Then, all you have to do is go out and earn it. I’m confident YOU CAN DO IT!
