5 Unskippable Tips to Sell More (and Make Bank 💰)

Hey Sales Warrior,

If your commissions have been looking a little too skinny lately—or if you’re already crushing it but want to turn “great” into “legendary”—this one’s for you.

Here are 5 no-fluff, real-world tips from 50 years in the trenches of sales. Use ‘em. Abuse ‘em. Just don’t ignore ‘em.

1. Stop Presenting. Start Diagnosing.
Most salespeople launch into “Here’s what we do!” like a robot at a trade show. The pros? They ask questions. Great questions. Then they shut up and listen. Sales isn’t about showing off your product or service, it’s about understanding the buyer’s world better than they do and offering great advice…not bragging about how terrific you are.

2. Follow-Up Like a Dog With a Bone.
One call? One email? Cute. But the fortune is in the follow-up. The money is in the 5th, 6th, even 10th touch. Be politely persistent. If Duke The Super Sales Pug wouldn’t give up on a treat, you shouldn’t give up on a deal until you’re sure it’s dead. At least for now.

3. Kill the Pitch. Have a Conversation.
No one likes to be sold. But everyone loves to buy. The more your sales call feels like two humans talking, the faster the trust builds – and trust is the down payment on a sale. Take the time up front to do some rapport-building.

4. Know (and Own) Your Numbers.
Track how many dials, emails, DMs, meetings, and proposals it takes to close one deal. Then reverse-engineer your income goals. Want to make six figures? Great. Now figure out what actions get you there and make them non-negotiable.

5. Sell Like You’d Want to Be Sold To.
This one’s simple but profound: If you wouldn’t respond well to your own approach, change it. Be the seller your buyer actually wants to talk to.

Want more where this came from? Keep showing up. Keep leveling up. And remember:

Selling is serving.
Sales is a game of making things happen.
So get out there and MAKE SALES HAPPEN!
